THREE NORTH BAY COUNCIL RACES STILL
TOO CLOSE TO CALL

11/10/05 1:50 PST

The outcomes of three city council races in the North Bay are still too close to declare.

The Solano County registrar of voters office reported this afternoon it expects an update by the end of the day on the close race for two seats on the Fairfield City Council.

John Mraz won a council seat with 6,338 votes, but 103 votes separate second-place finisher Frank Kardos and third-place finisher Steven Kays for the remaining seat.

In Marin County, the Town of Fairfax Council race and the Town of San Anselmo Council races are still close. Election officials had more than 20,000 votes to count after they released a tally on Tuesday night.

Ford Greene trails Ian Roth by 120 votes for the third seat on the San Anselmo council.

Incumbent Mike Ghiringhelli trails incumbent Susan Brandborg by 80 votes for the third Fairfax council seat. Incumbent Frank Egger trails Ghiringhelli by six votes and Brandborg by 86 votes.

Candidates David Weinsoff and Mary Ann Maggiore are well ahead for the two other Fairfax council seats.

Election officials must certify the results by Nov. 28, but the final tally is expected today or later this week in both counties.
